Activities

KAYAKS
Our five kilometer beach is perfect for kayaking; shallow water extends to the reef some 500 meters off shore. If sea conditions are unsuitable we transport the kayaks to the nearby River Kawang where paddlers can explore miles up-river into the pristine mangroves. Swimming in the river is not recommended as there really are CROCKODILES!

Our kayaks are suitable for one or two riders and all age groups. Kayakers are issued with an approved life vest which must be worn at all times and one of our qualified staff is always in attendance when kayakers are on the water. Sun hats and sun block available.

WALL CLIMBING
Our Climbing Tower reaches 30 feet above the park and has three climbing faces of varying difficulty. Each climber is equipped with a climbing helmet and safety harness.

Suitable footwear can be provided if required.

Each climber is assigned a safety officer who ensures the safety equipment is properly attached and he controls the belay line at all times. Instruction is given if requested. (It has been known for the instructor to give a little extra help to beginners or younger climbers by pulling on the belay line but that’s a secret.)

Each wall can accommodate two climbers simultaneously which is ideal for competitions.

All our climbing equipment is of mountaineering quality.

FLYING FOX
This is one of our most popular activities and, to our knowledge, the longest Flying Fox in Sabah.

Flyers collect their climbing harness and helmet and proceed to the base of the 40 foot tower. They are clipped to a belay line, the second operator checks the attachment and the victim climbs to the launch platform.

On the launch platform the third operator is waiting to attach not one but two flying rigs to two cables before releasing the safety line.

Now comes the “Act of Faith”. The flyer must launch him self into space. Terrifying!

Speed increases as the flyer descends, the giant mango tree looms ever larger until death seems certain. Mercifully, the breaking system kicks in and the rider swings harmlessly to halt. Then it’s back for another go!

An added twist: Before his decent, the flyer can be armed with water filled balloons and bombard his friends as he hurtles to earth.

FLYING SQUIRREL
The Flying Fox has proved so popular that we decided to construct a smaller version for our little guests. Equipment and safety procedures are exactly the same for the “Squirrel” as they are for the “Fox”. Flyers are fitted with a climbing harness and helmet, a belay line is attached and the second operator checks the equipment. The child is then safe to climb to the tree house where he is attached to the flying harness. Only then is the belay line released. No hesitation here! Kids can’t wait to throw themselves into space.

When they reach the bottom they are released from their harness and have to return via the assault course and kids climbing wall. A few rounds of this and you have some very tired children.
